Transfusion practice on the intensive care unit: an international online survey – The TRACE Survey

Events

Since international transfusion guidelines specifically for the intensive care setting are lacking, we hypothesise that a large variation in transfusion practice exists.

The ESICM Transfusion Guideline Taskforce is currently preparing the first international transfusion guideline specifically for the adult intensive care setting.

The aim of this survey is to use the information gathered as a baseline measurement prior to implementation of the new transfusion guideline, and use it for future comparison to determine whether the guideline resulted in a change of practice.

In contrast to most transfusion practice surveys, this survey is not limited to red cells transfusion, but also includes transfusion practice of plasma and platelet concentrates. Filling in the survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes.
