ESA – Survey on gender distribution and diversity

Encouragingly, the number of women studying medicine and training in anaesthesia is increasing. In many countries over 60% of anaesthesiologists are female.  Why, in this case, does gender inequality continue to exist at the highest levels of healthcare leadership?

The Board of Directors and Council of the European Society of Anaesthesiology wish to address the challenge of inclusion and gender equality in our field, in particular women’s participation in leadership, decision-making, elected roles in our departments, hospitals and official organisations representing our profession.

We will begin by gathering data from individual doctors across Europe. Please help us gather accurate information by completing this short survey by 14 March.

The initial data will be analysed and presented during Euroanaesthesia 2018 in Copenhagen.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
