    Advanced Masterclass in Scientific Writing, July 2016
    The ESA is launching a new advanced Masterclass in Scientific Writing: Finalizing a Publication.
    Target audience
    The target audience is anaesthesiologists with knowledge and experience in how to critically write and appraise scientific articles and abstracts. This course is open to experienced researchers, especially for previous attendees of the ESA Masterclass in Scientific Writing who wish to go deeper on this subject and improve the knowledge and skills learned during the previous Masterclass and improve a current draft article.
    All participants should:
    -be full ESA Members (Active, Affiliate or Trainee/Student), speak and write English fluently and already have a publication record.
    - have ALREADY completed a research project and have analysed the data but not yet finalized an article for submission to a journal.
    - have identified their target journal.
    - Submit an outline or first draft paper to ESA no later than Friday 17 June 2016.
    Course Accreditation
    Participants to this 2 and a half day course will benefit from 15 European CME credits (ECMEC) granted by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).
    Learn by doing
    The programme contains a series of short lectures and extended workshops during which participants will apply the knowledge learnt during lectures through practical exercises. The Faculty will consist of international experts in scientific medical writing who received outstanding evaluation by attendees of the previous course.

    The Masterclass will be held from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 July 2016.

  • (English) SepsEast 2016 – 3rd Central and Easter European Sepsis Forum

    Dear Colleagues,
    It is my great pleasure to announce the 3rd SepsEast conference, which will be held in Budapest, 10-12 November 2016. Please save the dates in your calendar!
    SepsEast is a unique initiative to bring East and West closer to each other and traditionally it offers free registration for junior doctors (aged 29 and less). This meeting is in close cooperation with several European international and national societies. We are sure that the scientific content of the congress would be of great value for every physician involved in critical care, therefore we are expecting physicians, nurses and even medical students working or having special interest in the fields of intensive care, anesthesiology and emergency medicine.
    This time we have again the support of several international experts and key opinion leaders from all over the world. We will try to cover most of the controversial issues in intensive and critical care medicine, and as in previous years we will also hold workshops in parallel with the main program.
    In addition to the scientific content there will be plenty of time allocated for social programs including the concert of our departmental rock band OnCall on Thursday night after the welcome reception.
    I’m sure Budapest, one of the most beautiful and exciting capitals of Europe, does not need any introduction, and at the beginning of November we can still enjoy the beauty of the Indian summer.
    This year’s SepsEast will be organized by the highly professional group of Convention Budapest Kft (http://www.convention.hu/), so we hope you will such a good time that everybody will leave us with an urge to return in 2018!

  • (English) Basic Sciences Anaesthetic Course – ESA

    The Basic Sciences Anaesthetic Course is intended as one of the tools suitable for the preparation of the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care by improving the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of different areas of basic science.

    This 3-day course will be held in parallel with Euroanaesthesia 2016 at Excel London. Participants can attend the Inaugural Ceremonies and a number of industry-sponsored sessions during lunch breaks, but may not attend any other congress sessions.

    Participants must attend the entire course in order to be able to sit the formative On-Line Assessment on 30 May and obtain the Certificate of Attendance.

    Registration and all course correspondence (including any course material) will be sent by electronic mail only. Each candidate must provide a valid and personal e-mail address. Candidates have to pre-register as onsite registration is not possible.

    Anyone interested in preparing for the EDAIC Examinations should attend.
    Lectures by members of the ESA Examinations Committees.
    To measure your own level of knowledge and skill through the On-Line Assessment.
    Who can attend?

    Only ESA Members (membership period must include 2016 and be of one of the following types: Active, Active from a reduced fee country, Affiliate or Trainee Membership.).
    Basic Sciences Anaesthetic Course attendees cannot register for Euroanaesthesia and vice versa.

    What should you bring to the course?

    You must bring a laptop that has an Ethernet port as well as its charger to the course. You will need to use your own laptop to take the formative On-Line Assessment; no laptops will be provided by the organisers. If you need a power adapter, please bring one with you. Please make sure that the Internet browser you will be using during the OLA is up-to-date on the day of the assessment. Tablet PCs or smartphones cannot be used to take the On-Line Assessment.

  • 1st SOUTH EASTERN EUROPEAN JOINT MEETING OF THORACIC ANESTHESIOLOGISTS AND SURGEONS

    We are very glad to invite you to the 1st South Eastern European Joint Meeting of Thoracic Anesthesiologists and Surgeons, which will be held in Split, Croatia, 6 – 8th April 2016.
    In the past year we have identified several similarities between the countries of the South Eastern Europe (former Yugoslavian republics, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania) but very little established collaboration. Therefore the main purpose of this meeting will be to strengthen our connections and to establish new collaboration in training and scientific research within the South Eastern Europe.
    Thoracic surgery is becoming one of the most evolving surgical specialities. The newest technological possibilities enable us to move forward from open surgery to minimal invasive and non-intubated procedures.
    Minimal invasive VATS is a future to believe in!
    Knowledge, expertise, confidence and dedication are our leading ideals. These qualities can bring you on the steep learning curve of progress. Deep confidence among members of a team is indispensable when dealing with the airway and respiratory organs. Confidence in the operating theatre has brought us to the idea of an open talk between thoracic surgeons and anesthesiologists during the meeting.
    There will be a number of lectures, presented by internationally respected experts in thoracic surgery and anesthesia, and also workshops. Participants will have many opportunities to exchange experiences and meet new friends during social events.
    On the last day we are planning to make a live video session of VATS lobectomy from Clinical Hospital Centre Split.
    You will enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and nature of Split in the early springtime. Split is the second largest city in Croatia, located on the Adriatic coast, centred on the Roman palace of the Emperor Diocletian.

  • 18th National Congress on Intensive Care Medicine with International Participation

    On April 6-10, 2016, we are going to host the “18th National Congress on Intensive Care Medicine with International Participation” at Antalya Titanic Deluxe Belek hotel, to be attended by both native and international speakers.
    The congress will continue for four days, preceded by one- or two-day courses. We are planning to organize the four day main schedule in four halls. The main schedule includes panels, conferences, round table discussions, interactive exchanges with relevant experts, industry-supported satellite meetings, joint sessions with major associations, pro-con sessions, etc.
    120 – 130 speakers will attend to our congress which will take place in four meeting room with English simultaneous translation during the scientific schedule.

  • Applications open: 2016 WFSA Baxter Scholarships for Euroanaesthesia, 28 – 30 May, London

    Baxter Healthcare Ltd is generously providing sponsorship for a number of young anaesthesiologists from less affluent countries to attend the 2016 European Anaesthesiology Congress, Euroanaesthesia 2016. The aim of the scholarship programme is to identify and develop future leaders in anaesthesiology. WFSA-Baxter Scholars will acquire new knowledge and gain many contacts and friends during the London Congress.

    Scholarship criteria:

    • Preference will be given to younger anaesthesiologists working in Central and Eastern Europe.
    • The application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s National Anaesthesiology Society.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who will be presenting a paper or poster during the conference
    • Preference will also be given to applicants who have completed training within the last 10 years and are working in teaching hospitals.
